Our company operates a sewing factory in Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture.
Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture, is located near Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, and halfway between Tokyo and Osaka Prefectures, making it a relatively good area from a logistics perspective.
Gifu City is a textile town that developed through the textile industry after the war.
I grew up hearing the sound of industrial sewing machines from my childhood.
During my childhood (1975-1990), many families were engaged in the women's clothing industry (sewing machine work), and there were many sewing companies that developed from the home work of the wives of the families to a cottage industry and then to a corporate organization.
After the bubble economy (around 1990), a wave of deflation hit the region, and the local sewing industry has been in decline due to a number of factors, including the influx of inexpensive foreign-made products and the rising cost of minimum wages in Japan.
The domestic production ratio of clothing consumed in Japan has dropped to approximately 2%, a figure that makes one wonder if the Japanese domestic sewing industry will disappear.
However, there are people who say, "I want to wear clothes made in Japan even if they are expensive.
Japanese products are admired and trusted by people overseas.
Foreign visitors to Japan like the design and material of the clothes, and the first thing they look at when they pick up a product is the place of production listed on the quality label.
They are very pleased when they see "Made in Japan" or "Made in Japan" on the label.
In order to enjoy the inbound effect, it is necessary to make customers happy.
In addition, people in other countries still have a strong yearning for Japanese-made products. We dream that the textile industry will become a new growth industry by selling Japanese fashion overseas.
Considering sustainable development goals, rather than inexpensive clothes that are used up, high-value-added fashion that can be worn with care over the long term is a more environmentally friendly approach.
