Regarding the question, "Are you aware that many brands in the apparel industry manufacture on an OEM basis?" the result was 16% "Yes, I knew" and 84% "No, I didn't know.
As for "replacing brand name tags," 16% of respondents knew about it and 84% did not know about it. The impression of replacing brand name tags was also found to be poor, with 52% of respondents saying they did not think it was a good idea.
Although 26% of the respondents were aware of apparel OEM, only 16% knew that many products in the apparel industry are manufactured by OEM, which means that less than 20% of the respondents know the reality of apparel OEM.
We found that awareness of apparel OEMs is low among the general public, and information on how apparel products are manufactured is not of interest or concern to many.
