Questionnaire Results

Do you purchase clothing or other apparel products from online retailers? Do you buy in stores?

(Mainly online: 17, More online than stores: 26, More stores than online: 33, Mainly stores: 24)

Please tell us what you wish or feel "could be better" in Internet shopping.

The following results were obtained from the categorization of expectations for Internet shopping in the future.

(Sizing and image: 47, Texture and color: 22, Shipping charges (including returns and exchanges): 10, Miscellaneous: 27)

Below are the opinions for each classification.

Size and wear image.
  • When looking at products, after searching by category, etc., it would be nice if there was a search field where you could select your height, etc., and if you could see pictures of models wearing clothes that are about the same height as yours all at once. (20s / Female / Aichi / Full-time employee)
  • Many of the models are tall and stylish, so it is difficult to imagine what they would look like. I wish there were several patterns to choose from because the lengths of dresses and other garments are completely different. Also, when I buy children's clothes, there are many foreign models and cute girls with a full face and two eyes, but my child has a very thin face. When I buy clothes for my child, the patterns are often blurred by the face, so I would like to see models with average looks used as well. (30s / Female / Nagasaki / Part-time job)
  • I am not able to purchase apparel products on the Internet, especially expensive ones, because I am always worried about the size. When I look at the images of the models wearing the garments, I can't really get an image of what they look like because they are all tall and slim. I think it would be easier to purchase if you had more than one model, and if you made pictures of different models wearing different sizes. (30s / Female / Osaka / Housewife)
  • We would like you to use photos of people in general body types, not models of good style, for the sample photos. This is because, since it is not possible to try on the garments, we would like to have a "realistic image of what the garment will look like when worn" as much as possible, not just a description of the size. There are stores that offer a try-on service, but it is a hassle to send the items back.... (40s / Female / Aichi / Self-employed, freelance)
  • Sometimes the image is quite different from what the model is wearing. It is unavoidable because of the difference in body shape, but it would be helpful to have a general image of the clothes. (50s / Female / Osaka / Housewife)

Texture and color.
  • I would like to see close-up photos that clearly show the texture of the fabric. Photos of models wearing the garments would be nice, but I have sensitive skin and sometimes make mistakes with fabrics, so it would be very helpful to have such a site. (20s / Female / Saitama / Housewife)
  • It is hard to tell the texture, so I wish it could be conveyed more on the screen. When I received the product, I often found that it was different from my image. (30s / Female / Chiba / Full-time employee)
  • Accuracy of color reproduction. The light conditions at the time of photo shooting and the computer used may have an effect, but I would like to see the colors compared with the actual product to check if the colors are close before posting. (30s / Female / Tokyo / Full-time employee)
  • I think it would be easier to choose if we could see the texture. I had an experience the other day where the fabric was thick, but the product I received was very thin. (40s / Male / Ibaraki / Full-time employee)
  • I can get a general idea of what the model is wearing, but sometimes the fabric is thinner than I expected, which is disappointing. I would be happy if the material and thickness of the fabric could also be seen. (50s / Female / Hokkaido / Part-time job)

Shipping charges (including returns and exchanges)
  • Many places charge for shipping, so I think I would buy more if shipping were free. (20s / Female / Yamanashi / Housewife)
  • I wish it were easier to return or exchange items if they are different from the image I had when I received them. (30s / Female / Yamaguchi / Full-time employee)
  • It is difficult to buy clothes by mail order because I am not sure if my size fits unless I try them on. I think it would be easier to buy if there was a system that made it easy to return clothes. (30s / Male / Chiba / Self-employed, freelance)
  • I would like to see free shipping for size exchanges because of the inability to try on items. It is also hard to return items that are on sale. (40s / Female / Aichi / Housewife)
  • I would like to see free shipping for exchanges when a garment does not fit. For example, it would be easier to ask for free shipping up to once. (40s / Female / Saitama / Housewife)

Others
  • I want videos on all products (30s / Female / Kanagawa / Housewife)
  • It would be nice to see products in 3D (30s / Male / Saitama / Full-time employee)
  • It would be nice if they could suggest clothes that fit me and offer specific coordination (40s / Female / Nara / Self-employed, freelance)
  • I personally hope that the rules and sales methods will be more favorable to buyers. (40s / Male / Osaka / Part-time job)
  • I would like to know the country of origin and whether the product is fair trade. (50s / Female / Kanagawa / Housewife)
